Dinosaur

When I found out I was in DinoLand, I made sure to go to Animal Kingdom and ride the rides in DinoLand. I also rode the major rides around the park. The most scary ride in all of Animal Kingdom, maybe even all of the Disney parks, is called Dinosaur.

I screamed the whole time I was on this ride with my roommates. We went on it twice to just see if it was really that scary or if we were wimps. It really was that scary. This is the ride I've been assigned to. Each ride at the Disney parks has a story behind it. Here is the story to Dinosaur. This ride was named after the Disney movie that came out a little while ago called, Dinosaur.
Before the movie came out it was called Extinction or Time of Extinction or Dinosaurs of Extinction, hmmm... I'm not exactly sure, but it's something with "Extinction" in the title. Anyways, there's a scientist named Seeker that helps transport you back in time to get a dinosaur to bring back with you for scientific research. BUT the time period you go back to is very close to the asteroid that hits the Earth that makes all the dinosaurs go extinct. This time rover vehicle you get into takes you back in time where all is dark and scary. You'll see friendly dinosaurs and not so friendly dinosaurs. Some try to eat you. Others just want to figure out what you are. Then the asteroids start hitting, and you may or may not make it back in time.

I've been trained and am now working on my own to run parts of this ride and to maintain control of huge groups of people! I love it. There were times during the training period that I didn't want to get up and go to work. I didn't want to get up at 4:30am to go and be lectured at and put down for not pushing the buttons correctly. I must say pushing a flashing green button isn't as difficult as they make it sound. Sometimes we have to push a sequence of buttons. This isn't hard either. They light up in order, and then you push them. I was yelled at more than once on not pushing them correctly. How many ways can you push a button?! I'm more than capable of pushing a button. In fact, I can now add that I'm a 'professional button pusher for Disney' to my resume. haha :) The last two weeks I've been on my own since I've passed the assessment. I've made a few mistakes like let a person in the building that had food open. Or filled the movie rooms too full. Or talked to the guests out of character because they also go to the BYU with me. BUT I've always pushed the right buttons.

I've also ridden the ride more than I can count. I know exactly when to close my eyes and when to cover my ears. I know exactly when I need to scream and when I'm going to be thrown into the person sitting next to me. I've practically got this ride memorized. BUT it still scares me. I finish riding and I come off with big eyes and my heart's beating faster than normal. I see young kids, 3 or 4 year-olds, that come off with big eyes shouting that they want to do it again. I'm not as brave as them. It is the scariest ride I've ever been on. When I first rode it I silently wished I didn't have to work it. BUT I now have to ride it every night I work...
