First Day in the MTC

My first day:

I got dropped off and the nice elder hosts grabbed my bags and led me to the sister hosts. The sisters helped me find my room and we dropped off my luggage. Then she took me to the meeting chapel and I was given an envelope. The senior sisters in that room put my tag on me (the orange dork dot was already on there for me:)) and then snapped a photo of me to give to my branch president and his counselors. Then the host sister took me to my classroom and dropped me off. Sister Johnson was there and I joined her in waiting for orientation. It was orientation for gym class... it was simple and straightforward: be nice, no unkind competition, no running dates between the elders and the sisters. You know, the usual. Then class started, and I met my companion, Sister Chantry. She was sweet and very very excited... later i found out it was a great mask for nerves:) After what seemed like a few hours of class we were taken to the welcome orientation given by the MTC President, President Brown. I saw Elder (Landon) Anderson there... and he was happy to see someone he knew.

Dinner and more class followed. This class was special for all the new missionaries. We were in groups of 30-40 missionaries and rotated around to team-teach investigators. It was such a spiritually strengthening experience. Then we went to our rooms and unpacked (suprisingly everything fit perfectly!) and began doing our homework assignments we had already gotten. The lights went out at 10:30... we were blinded and stumbling in the dark. a few minutes later they came back on and we put things away said prayers and tried to sleep that night. I didn't sleep that well. None of us sisters did.

Lots of classes and teaching experiences have happened since that day. It was more of a blur and hard to remember all what happened that first day.
