So I was tired of not being able to get clean. Like the soft skin sweet smelling clean after a shower. It's been weeks since I had been able to shower, and tonight I decided to shower. I took all the precautions. I wrapped a towel around my new green cast, then TWO garbage bags went around my cast. Then to be extra cautious I took packing tape and wrapped it around the tops of the bags and my leg. I might have wrapped it too tight around my leg, but there was no way I was taking a chance on getting that cast wet.
After my delightful shower I made sure to get all dry before taking my secure dry proof packaging off my leg. I inspected my cast and it looked dry!!! Wahoo!!! About fifteen to twenty minutes later I was looking for jobs online and my foot felt kinda cold. I touched my toes and they were fine, but the white sock part of my cast next to my toes was soaking wet! I stuck my finger inside to see if inside was wet... when I pulled my finger out it was covered in this white goop. Which I have decided is a mush of old dead skin cells. GROSS. and the inside was wet too.
I proceeded to tell my mom and dad and they gave that disappointed look, ya know "the look". I felt so stupid. I did all the precautions and tried my best to keep it dry, I even double bagged my leg for crying out loud. I must have stepped in a puddle after my shower, or the both bags had holes in them or something. Especially since just the bottom was wet. It had to be Karma. It has to do with the fact that I'm the oldest child, this is my third cast (if you count the soft cast as well) and this is about the 17th cast out of all us kids, and I'm the first to get my cast wet. dang. haha, so now I'm laying in bed, with a towel half under my foot and half stuck into my cast writing this to you.
Tomorrow I have to go get another cast, since the wetness doesn't have any ventilation and can kill/decompose my skin after about 24 hours. Oh man. This is just something I would do... I should've intentionally gotten my cast wet last week and gone swimming! geez.
This week I started babysitting for a few extra dollars. I'm watching the same kids as a couple of summers ago. They remembered me and are so cute, but growing up so fast. And they are rich kids which I think makes for a mandatory bratty attitude, but I'm working on getting that in check. I won't take too much sass from a four year old. :) But there's a problem with me babysitting this week, I have to have my cast changed tomorrow and I'm scheduled to babysit from about 9am to 5pm which are the hours of the clinic... that'll be interesting.

eww! I am so proud of you for making such a great effort to keep it dry though! Ha when I had a cast I went swimming and tried the plastic bag thing...then I had to try my cast under one of those hand dryers. Always a bummer. I'm glad you're feeling alive enough to watch kids though!
