This made me happy!! I've always thought Utah's bird selection was quite weak, especially around campus. BUT this list showed several birds seen on and around Campus which are nice birds. They had the sparrow and grackle of course, but they had the chickadee, mountain bluebird, kingfisher, and robin as well. If you're not a bird person the sparrow is the little mouse of the sky, and the grackle is the rat of the sky. I see these all too much around here. The chickadee and kingfisher and robin are much more beautiful and have a much more friendly personality.
Back home there are a ton more birds. We have the coastal birds, and the forest birds, and the city birds. There is so much variety! In fact, my house back home is in a bird sanctuary! I've seen cardinals, bluebirds, blue jays, pilated woodpeckers(which are about two feet in body length and have a beautiful crest on top of their head), grosbeaks, nuthatches, redheaded woodpeckers, chickadees, downy woodpeckers, variety of hawks, and carnivorous birds, then of course the ugly grackles, sparrows, and starlings.

I love to see birds. They are so amazing. Being able to fly and see the big picture up from above. Soaring. Diving. Beautiful feathers. Fun intricate nests... hmmmm. Sometimes I wish I was a BlueJay.

My favorite is the chickadee--ever since we had that little nest in the nesting box on the fence. They are so cute and tiny!
Yes, you are a BlueJay!
And--you forgot Mockingbird--would you consider them a pretty bird or ugly? Just curious.
